"Sports Month" in Hong Kong? Once have an idea that the Hong Kong Government should promote some major activities to encourage the Hong Kong people to playing sports. The Hong Kong Government should put more resources on sports such as cycling. Hong Kong has held some major sports activities to promote sports before, such as the Sports For All Day which is organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) hold each year.

Although the Hong Kong government has done many efforts to promote sports activities in Hong Kong, however the participation and rate of Hong Kong people playing sports are still low. Therefore, I think the media and governments can give promotions to make Hong Kong people to get more interests in playing sports activities.

From the South China Morning Post (2016), it had taken cycling as an example of how the Hong Kong government cannot properly and particularly promote sports events. The article criticized the government not to promote cycling as the government had long supported the motion that bicycles should not be on the streets by refusing to recognize cycling as a valid transport (some Hong Kong people would use bicycle as one of their transport, rather than taken minibuses, buses or MTR). In Hong Kong, bicycle road is only located at part of some districts in New Territories in Hong Kong, such as Sha Tin, Tai Po, Tseung Kwan O, etc. Not all districts in Hong Kong can full cover with bicycle roads so some of the bicycle lovers would have to travel on the roads with other cars. This would cause danger with the bicyclers because it may cause traffic accidents.

Although most of the District Council in Hong Kong support that the governments should put more efforts and build more cycling road, the government still not yet well prepare for it. Hong Kong has a bicycle role model - Sarah Lee Wai-sze, who won a bronze medal in 2012 London Olympics. The article proves that as Hong Kong has many successful and brilliant athletes, and the government should put more resources on it. In my opinion, I also support that the government should put more resources on promoting sports. Though Hong Kong has many brilliant athletes, the Hong Kong government still not put enough resources on sports. I agree that building and expand cycling roads is a good idea and it must be in progress. I suggest that each district should have cycling roads, as Hong Kong has many beautiful coast that have enough places for build cycling roads. More cycling roads can let more Hong Kong people can have cycling. So that the Hong Kong people can have more opportunities to have more sports activities.
