The development plans of Kai Tak Sports Park has been marked in a controversy. Different interests groups have different opinions on developing the Kai Tak Sports Park. One of the opinions have stated that in the Kai Tak Sports Park should build a stadium which would be larger than the current Hong Kong Stadium in So Kon Po, Causeway Bay. The Hong Kong Stadium is near by many residents and buildings. As a result, it would create serious noise pollution during the events. Until now, many events would be offered in Hong Kong Stadium such as rugby and football. Due to Hong Kong Stadium is near by the residents, Hong Kong Stadium is not available to hold major concerts like Hong Kong Coliseum in Hung Hom. According to the sports park plan, they will have a 50,000 seat stadium with retractable roof, indoor stadium and a public community sports were moored many year ago, will little process made since. If the new stadium build in Kai Tak, Hong Kong can have more opportunities to hold major sports events, in order to attract more tourists come to Hong Kong.

In recent years, the Hong Kong government put more resources on developing more sports facilities, such as build more swimming pools, sports grounds and sports centres, as well as the Hong Kong Velodrome. The more facilities of the government build, the more opportunities of Hong Kong residents have places to practice and play sports. In my opinion, I think the idea and development of Kai Tai Sports Park is good. There are three main points, first it can let the sports communities have more opportunities and benefits to practice and organizing sports activities in Hong Kong. Although Hong Kong has claimed to be an international cities, compare to other major cities like New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Taipei, Seoul and Tokyo, etc. , Hong Kong has limited places for holding sports activities. If the Kai Tak Sports Park built which have major stadiums, sports grounds and other facilities related to sports, it would make more opportunities for Hong Kong people. Secondly, for the entertainments, Kai Tak Stadium can hold major events, such as big music concerts. Many international entertainment singers or bands can more choices of avenues to come to Hong Kong hold the concerts, not only in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre or Asia-world-Expo to hold the events.

Although some of the opinions claim that building and developing the Kai Tak Sports Park would make less use of land to build more housings. I disagree with this. I know Hong Kong has limited land resources to make and build more land and sustainable developments. But I still think that Hong Kong still need to build more sports facilities to make Hong Kong people have more opportunities and encourage them to playing sports.
